Sustainability

Value that stays where it grows.

For us, sustainability is practical. Less food lost after harvest, fairer income for the people who grow it, and records a buyer can check. Here is what we do, and how you can hold us to it.

What we do

Three commitments, and how to check them.

  1. Less food lost

Fresh crops can spoil within days of harvest. We dry, sort and process close to the farms, so a harvest becomes a product before it becomes waste.

How you can checkEvery batch record shows when the crop was harvested and when it was processed.

  2. Fair to farmers

We buy directly from farmers and cooperatives at harvest, weigh every bag in front of the seller and pay on agreed terms. No chain of middlemen taking a cut.

How you can checkEach batch names its farm community and the weight bought, so the trail leads back to real people.

  3. Records you can check

A simple record travels with every batch from the farm gate to the buyer: where it grew, who grew it and how it was handled.

How you can checkAsk for the batch record with any order. On ÀHỊÁ it will sit beside every listing.

Where we are heading

Step by step, in the open.

We would rather show steady progress than big promises. This is where we are and what comes next.

  1. Now

    A record for every batch

Origin, weight and handling are written down from the farm gate onwards.

  2. Next

    Food safety certification

Working towards HACCP and ISO 22000 for our processing.

  3. Then

    Records online

Batch records published on ÀHỊÁ, open to buyers before they order.

Numbers we will publish

Real figures, not big claims.

These are the numbers we track. We will publish them here after our first full season, and every season after.

  • Coming after this season

    Farmers we buy from

How many farmers and cooperatives sold to us, and what they were paid.

  • Coming after this season

    Harvest saved

How much crop was processed instead of lost after harvest.

  • Coming after this season

    Value kept in Nigeria

How much was processed here rather than shipped away raw.
